Murray River Trail Running Festival

Sturt Reserve, Sturt Reserve Rd Murray Bridge. The event village is located on the lawn area in between the playground and the smashcourt/skatepark area with the start line next Murray Bridge’s famous Bunyip. The 5km and 10km courses both cross the first bridge to span the Murray and utilise levy banks with river views. The 1/2 course utilises the Lavender Federation Trail and Kinchina Conservation Park.
We have endeavoured to make actual course distances as close as possible to the stated distances. With trail runs this is not always possible due to late course changes due to condition of the weather or track. The courses have been measured using Garmin gps watches, Strava and mapmyrun. Please be warned there may be some variance in actual course distance.
Maps will be printed on A3 sheets and be available to be looked at on the morning. The ½ course is a trail run using a variety of surfaces ranging from Concrete, bitumen, gravel, sandy, rocky, dirt and clay levee banks. Please wear appropriate footwear, take care with your footing and be sunsmart on the day. All ½ marathon course runners must carry their own hydration devices during the run. Water and hydration stations will be available throughout the course however there will be no plastic cups in line with our sustainable and environmental policies.
REGISTRATION AND SIGN ON: ½ course 07:15am onwards, 3/5/10km 8:10am onwards
Please arrive early enough before your run to collect your run numbers.
At the registration area there will be a board with all participants’ names and corresponding bib numbers. PLEASE ENSURE that your details are correct and pay particular attention to your age, gender and distance competing in. If any details are incorrect then please alert registration officials. Next to your name on the board is YOUR RACE NUMBER. Please grab your own race number from the table where numbers are in numeric order. O
Bib numbers must be worn on the front of your shirt. Safety pins will be available on the day.
Trail Half: On course aid stations located at approx between. 2km and no more than 5km apart water, electrolytes and lollies provided
5km/10km: On course aid stations located at approx. , 3km, then approx 2-3 km. every km until the finish.
Trail Half course 8:00am
The Trail Half race briefing is at 07:45am at start line next to bunyip. Please attend for important safety information and course briefing. Race start will be at 08:00am
3km, 5km & 10km 09:00am
3, 5 & 10km race briefing is at 08:50am on start line next to bunyip. Please attend for important safety information and course briefing. Race start will be at 09:00am or shortly after when SAPOL confirm ‘old’ bridge closure in place. Official opening speeches will be held after the start of the ½ marathon around 08:30am followed by a warm up held by Anytime Fitness Murray Bridge.
In the event village there will be plenty of entertainment for kids and spectators along with post race refreshments. Tunes will be pumping out care of battle of the bands organiser Paul Ankerson and the coffee van will provide your early morning heart starter coffee. There will be an SA Water hydration station on hand to keep you hydrated pre and post event and the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge will be cooking their famous gourmet bbq burgers and snags. For the kids there will be an inflatable jumping castle, face painting. The kids race will start at approx. 11:00am. First Care Medical will be on hand to treat any injuries to runners and spectators.
Race results will be posted on the official social media site and website. Race presentations will commence around 10:30- 11:00am. Trophies will be awarded to 1st place getters in male and female categories for the 5 / 10 / half marathon courses. We encourage participants to enjoy the atmosphere of the event village post their event and enjoy a burger from the Rotary BBQ where proceeds go towards the JDRF to help find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes.
