Rocky Gully Run n Roll X Duo

August 13, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Register HERE!

Rocky Gully X Duo is much like a stock standard duathlon consisting of a Run, Ride, Run format. The twist with X-Duo is that this event is completely off-road and follows man-made single trail tracks. This is a course that will provide plenty of adventure and will be a rewarding and physical challenge for most.

Utilising the newly proclaimed “Kinchina Conservation Park”, the course is home to a unique landscape that as the event name suggests, is somewhat rocky and will require a certain level of physical fitness, experience and skill in traversing technical/adventurous trails. Nonetheless, it is a course that is sure to surprise and provide a great day out with mates and like-minded people.

The event will be held on Sunday August 13th from 08:00am and proceeds will go directly to the Movember campaign to raise awareness and funds to help fight both Prostate and Testicular Cancer.

The event will be unique as it offers something for everyone as competitors choose between 3 different events, X-Duo (run-ride-run) or for those whom just want to ride or run, they can also elect to undertake a single event only option.

In essence, this event is 3 events in one:

  • X-Duo (4.8km Trail Run- 10km Mountain Bike- 3kmTrail Run)
  • Intersport Asics 11.5km Long Course & 4.8km Short Course
  • Brooks Cycle Depot 25km Mountain Bike Ride

The event will be held at Kinchina Conservation Park with race H.Q. located in the paddock area on Maurice Rd uphill from Mobilong Gaol with  theStart/Finish line and transition areas all together for maximum spectator involvement.

Intersport Asics Trail Run Leg 1 ( 4.8km )

Starts downhill then past the abandoned cottage ruins, turns right (clockwise) onto the famous Getaway Car Loop. Runners take care whilst crossing Maurice Rd with the assistance of a traffic marshal. Runners then take Jailhouse Rocks to gain access to the Jailbreak Track before again carefully crossing Maurice Rd and accessing the Rocky Gully link trail. This trail then gets back to the getaway Car Loop which we turn right at and take the access track back up to the transition area.

Brooks Cycle Depot Mountain Bike Leg (10km )

From the transition area the bike leg follows the getaway trail in an anti-clockwise direction and completes a full loop past the transition start/finish line again and takes the first 200m of the trail until a right turn towards Maurice Rd and the Jailhouse Rocks loop. Here we follow the trail run leg 1 course onto the Jailbreak trail then follow the fence line along Maurice Rd onto the 4wd access path. The 4wd track winds its way up White Hill for spectacular views before coming quite sandy near the top end (take care) then joins again onto the Jailbreak trail for a fun and fast spectacular descent. The trail then leads back onto Jailhouse Rocks Trail, crosses Maurice Rd, then takes the Getaway loop back to the transition area for the final run leg.

Intersport Asics Trail Run Leg 2 ( 3km )

Down past abandoned cottage on the Getaway trail to the Rocky Gully Link, turns right onto the Lavender Federation Trail and before the train tunnel winds its way up hill back to the finish.

Intersport Asics Trail Run Only ( 11.5km & 4.8km )

11km: Starts downhill then past the abandoned cottage ruins, turns right (clockwise) onto the famous Getaway Car Loop. Runners take care whilst crossing Maurice Rd with the assistance of a traffic marshal. Runners then take Jailhouse Rocks to gain access to the Cemetery Trail. At the top of the Cemetery Trail runners turn right onto Jailbreak and descend before again carefully crossing Maurice Rd and accessing the Rocky Gully link trail then back uphill to the getaway Car Loop and up to the transition area.

4.8km: Add Maurice Rd to Western End of Lav/Fed trail in Kinchina park and Lav/Fed trail through Rocky Gully

Brooks Cycle Depot Mountain Bike Only (25km )

From the transition area riders loop around the abandoned cottage then riders follow the getaway trail in an anti-clockwise direction and complete a full loop past the transition start/finish line again then takes the first 200m of the trail until a right turn towards Maurice Rd and the Jailhouse Rocks loop. Here we follow the trail run only course up the Cemetery trail and down onto the Jailbreak trail towards Maurice Rd. Riders then follow the fence line along Maurice Rd onto the 4wd access path. The 4wd track winds its way up White Hill for spectacular views before coming quite sandy near the top end (take care) then joins again onto the Princes Hwy linear single track trail that is fun and winding. The trail then leads back adjacent the Lav/Fed Trail for more fun single trail, jumps on Maurice Road for a short time onto Jailhouse Rocks Trail, crosses Maurice Rd, then takes the Getaway loop back to the transition area.
